After going through TSA Security for United airlines l retrieved my personal handbag in which I had placed my US Passport which was in a leather plastic faced holder.
I proceeded to Gate 133 where I boarded Flt 533 for San Diego. After I settled into my Seat 25E and the plane prepared to leave I checked for my passport to put it into a side pocket in my handbag and it was missing. Flight attendants helped look in my seating area but no passport.
I believe it may have fallen out of handbag at the security checkpoint when I removed it from the plastic bucket.
